Epic Games, introduced new gameplay about a week before Halloween, called Fortnitemares. It’s been several days since Fortnitemares ended but what a interesting and fun mode that fit perfectly into Halloween season. In Fortnitemares, Epic Games, introduced Cube Monsters, Cube Fiends and Cube Brutes into gameplay as a 4 Part challenge. As you completed each Part you received various items starting with a emoticon, spray, contrail and ending with a glider. We have highlighted the various Parts of Fortnitemares below.
Part 1 Fortnitemares
The most interesting part of Fortnitemares Part 1 was getting use to all the Cube Monsters. Adjusting pretty quickly to destroying the Cube Monsters had both an upside and downside. The upside being the loot once they were eliminated; the downside was the distraction they brought as you could get busy fighting both the Cube Monsters and getting sniped from others in the middle of two battles. Once you completed this initial part you received the Fiery emoticon.
Part 2 Fortnitemares
In my opinion, the easiest part of Fortnitemares to complete. This part came out a few days after Part 1, around the time the DeadFire skin was released. Not to mention, one of the best Halloween skins, DeadFire, a reactive skin. Reactive, meaning that the cosmetics of the skin change as you deal damage to enemies. Once Part 2 is completed you are rewarded with the the DeadFire spray, a interesting spray with lots of bright colors.
Part 3 Fortnitemares
The most difficult of Part 3 was eliminating the Cube Brutes. They took multiple shots to destroy, therefore bringing a lot of unwanted attention to your location. However, Epic Games, did bring back the cross bow which was the most effective method in eliminating the various Cube Monsters, Cube Fiends and Cube Brutes. The reward for completing Part 3 is the Virulent Flames contrail, one of the best contrails as well.
Part 4 Fortnitemares
The most difficult Part of Fortnitemares, six total challenges within Part 4. At same time, the reward for completing all the Part 4 challenges is the Dark Engine glider, one of the best gliders in Fortnite. Destroying the gold Elite Cube Monsters, as well as visiting four corrupted areas in one match were the two most difficult challenges of Part 4. The Cube Bosses (Elite Cube Monsters) took a ton of damage to eliminate making it more complicated. Using the shadow stones seemed to be the most effective way to visit the different corrupted areas quickly.
Fortnitemares – The Verdict
Fortnitemares was well worth the inclusion into Fortnite Battle Royale game play. The four different parts were difficult enough to make Fortnitemares a fun Limited Time Mode(LTM). On top of that, the rewards for completing each Part was well worth the time. Also some of the best / rarest skins and items made there way back during Fortnitemares such as the popular Skull Trooper skin. It will be interesting to see what sort of game play modes Epic Games will introduce going into Christmas, will they bring back the Ginger Bread skin?
