Fortnite’s Chapter 2: Season 1 has been going on for quite a while, so you are no doubt curious when the 11th season of the game is going to end. Well, Epic has clearly been tapering back a bit on the updates, but the ending isn’t as far away as it might seem. We’ll take a look at the current projected timing of when this season is coming to a close!
Why is Season 11 Going on So Long?
Well, in November of 2019 it was announced by Epic that Chapter 2: Season 1 will be extending into early February 2020:
With a new year comes new beginnings! Last year we celebrated 14 Days of Fortnite over the holidays. This year we’ve got even more content for you to unwrap, including new game features, free rewards and a live experience that you won’t want to miss. To prepare for all the new holiday-themed updates, we will be extending Chapter 2’s first season into early February. Get ready for winter!
They really didn’t give much information on why it was extending, but players did get some nice bonuses in December with the 14 Days of Fortnite celebration. Players could open up gifts that included two free skins (Lt. Evergreen and Wooly Warrior), and even the Millennium Falcon as a free glider! This was pretty much unheard of in terms of free stuff given away in Fortnite, we’ve very rarely seen any free Outfits given out in the past unless they were attached to something else (Twitch Prime and Samsung or PS+ promotions).
So, any reasons there are for why the season has extended so long are purely speculation. Maybe Epic is giving the Fortnite team more time to work on things, or they could even be struggling with the new system that came along with the complete revamp of the map and game.
While you are awaiting the end of this season, Epic has been releasing additional challenges that can earn you more styles for your battle pass skins. Here’s a look at all of those and how to complete them:
When is Season 11 Going to End?
There hasn’t been an exact date given out by Epic, but they did mention that early February is their target for the ending of Season 11. Leakers have given us a bit of a better idea of when it is planning on ending, but do keep in mind that this is unofficial and could be changed at anytime. Apparently, you can find in the files event data for Season 11 that displays the end date as February 15th, 2020. Again, this has not been officially announced by Epic, so it could be changed. This data has been relied upon in the past, but does change sometimes with new patches. It is very unlikely that the season will be extended much deeper into February, so I do believe that date is pretty reliable at this point.
