Review: TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4 Gaming Memory

0

TEAMGROUP T-Force is known for its high-performance memory modules and blazing fast SSDs and NVMEs. When it comes to making your very own build, TEAMGROUP has quite a decent lineup of products offering exceptional performance at decent prices. Their sub-brand T-Force specifically targets gamers and their latest DDR4 rams, the DARK Z FPS are all about those frames and making sure that you are getting the smoothest gaming experience for dominating your game. This is our review of the TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4 Gaming Memory in which we pit T-Force’s latest offering against some of the well-known brands in the market and see whether it really gives that extra oomph when it comes to gaming.

Technical Specs

Starting with the technical specs of TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4, the review sample that we received from TEAMGROUP was 8GB x 2, Dual-Channel 16 GB sticks offering 4000Mhz frequency at CL16-18-18-18. Right from the start, these are some really impressive figures. At default settings, it uses 1.45V and has a data transfer bandwidth of 32,000 MB/s (PC4 32000). To cool it off, it comes with a beautifully designed aluminum heat spreader. TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4 does not feature any sort of RGB on its stick so by default, these move up in a gamer’s list if they are looking for a non-RGB memory for a stealth build.

What’s Inside the Box

TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4 comes in a fairly standard packing with the two ram sticks inside them. Inside the pack, you will find the ram sticks along with a warranty pamphlet and a T-Force sticker for your chassis.

Test Bench

We tested out the TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4 on two different PCs, one running the new AMD 5000 series CPU and 6000 series Radeon GPU while the other one running the previous-gen AMD 3000 CPU and 5000 series Radeon GPU.

We will not include detailed benchmarks for the previous-gen because the AMD Ryzen 3700X that we used was unable to run the TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4 at 4000 MHz while fully utilizing the Infinity Fabric.

It worked fine in decoupled mode however we reduced the frequency to 3600Mhz and were able to run the rams with CL14 latency setting with the default voltage with the Ryzen 3700X which provided 1 or 2 extra frames in all of the game we tried it with.

For completing utilizing the TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4, you need to have the new AMD Ryzen 5000 GPUs or Intel’s processors. For the following benchmarks, our testbench had these specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5600X
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X570-E
  • GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 6800
  • PSU: Corsair RM850x
  • SSD: Samsung 850 Evo

Benchmarks:

Below you will find all of the benchmarks that we did with the above test bench running the TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS 16 GB DDR4 memory modules. We ran two different benchmarks for each game one at 1080p and one at 1440p. The competition that we are comparing the rams with includes the G.Skill Trident Z 3600 CL16 2×8, 16GB DDR4, and Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200 CL16 2×16, 32GB DDR4.

We can clearly see that the increased frequency is giving the TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4 a visible advantage especially at 1080p. The higher you go in resolution, the difference seems to become minimal as CPU and GPU come into play more at higher resolutions.

Final Verdict:

TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4 is a solid performer thanks to its blistering-fast 4000MHz speed and the ease of overclocking. Support for good overclocking means that you can potentially lower the maximum frequency and get even lower latency for minimizing the gaming lag even more and delivering an amazing experience at CL14. It is a brilliant addition to the options of DDR4 memories and with its support for both Intel and AMD processors right out of the box, it is a great choice for a variety of builds. No RGB and its brilliant black theme make it perfect for stealth builds. As proved with our benchmarks above, if you are looking for a ram that can probably give you increased frames in all games with the same setup, TEAMGROUP T-Force DARK Z FPS DDR4 is the ram for you because simply upgrading to these rams will ensure that you are squeezing every last bit of frames from your system.
